How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar's first ability by sacrificing another creature, creating a Blood token.
2. The Blood token enters the battlefield as a 0/0 creature due to March of the Machines, and will have its toughness boosted by the permanent specified in the pre-requisites to prevent it from dying.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Shilgengar, Sire of Famine into a relentless engine by leveraging the passive transformation of March of the Machines. Because March of the Machines turns artifacts into creatures equal in mana value, the Blood tokens created by Shilgengar's first ability enter the battlefield as 0/0 creatures—though external modifiers or replacement effects can keep them alive, or you can simply chain their creation and sacrifice for endless triggers. By repeatedly sacrificing creatures to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine while March of the Machines is in play, you generate an uninterrupted cycle of leaves-the-battlefield, entry, and death triggers without ever needing to cast another spell.
