How it works

1. Cast Cackling Counterpart by paying 1, creating a token copy of Specimen Collector.
2. When the Specimen Collector token enters the battlefield, its first ability triggers, creating a 1/1 Squirrel and a 0/3 Crab creature token.
3. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing the nontoken Specimen Collector.
4. When Specimen Collector dies, its second ability triggers, creating a token copy of the Specimen Collector token.
5. Repeat from step 2.
6. Resolve all Altar of Dementia abilities, causing any number of players to mill infinite cards.

This clever loop spins up endless fodder by letting Specimen Collector continuously clone itself through its own death trigger. You kick off the chain with Cackling Counterpart to get an initial copy onto the battlefield, immediately flooding your board with extra bodies thanks to the enter-the-battlefield trigger. From there, Altar of Dementia acts as the engine's sacrificial outlet, using the original Specimen Collector's sacrifice to trigger another copy while simultaneously milling your opponents down to nothing.
