How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing a creature
2. When the creature dies, Mortuary triggers, putting the creature from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
3. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
4. Cast the creature from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
5. Cast the creature from the top of your library by paying X life, where X is the creature's mana value.
6. Aetherflux Reservoir triggers, causing you to gain 1 life for each spell you've cast this turn.
7. Repeat.

This loop turns the life-paying alternative cost of Gwenom, Remorseless into a self-sustaining engine by letting you repeatedly sacrifice a creature to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine and immediately recast it using Gwenom's ability to play the top card of your library. Mortuary ensures that the sacrificed creature never stays in your graveyard, recycling it straight back to the top of your library where Gwenom can grab it again. As you recast your creature over and over, Aetherflux Reservoir tracks your spellcasting to effortlessly outpace the life you pay to Gwenom, ultimately letting you convert your unbounded life total into a lethal 50 damage blast to any target.
