How it works

1. Whenever an opponent controls a nonblack creature, if you control a Treasure, activate it by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
2. Activate Attrition by paying and sacrificing Lucius, targeting a nonblack creature an opponent controls.
3. When Lucius dies, it and Pitiless Plunderer trigger.
4. Resolve the Lucius trigger, exiling it from your graveyard and targeting the creature that Attrition is targeting.
5. Resolve the Pitiless Plunderer trigger, creating a Treasure token.
6. Resolve the Attrition trigger, destroying the targeted creature.
7. When the creature dies, Lucius triggers, returning it from exile to the battlefield under your control.
8. Repeat as needed.

This macabre loop turns Lucius the Eternal into an immortal executioner by turning his own demise into a tool for total board control. With Attrition providing a steady stream of targeted removal for black mana, you can systematically pick apart your opponents' nonblack creatures. Whenever Lucius hits the graveyard, Pitiless Plunderer steps in to generate a fresh Treasure token, fueling the black mana required to keep Attrition's ability firing. Meanwhile, the Armour of Shrieking Souls attached to Lucius exiles an opposing creature upon his death, returning him to your battlefield the moment that trapped victim finally leaves play—instantly resetting the cycle and locking down the opposing board.
