How it works

1. Cast Appa by paying
2. When Appa enters, its first ability triggers, exiling Restoration Angel with the ability to cast it later from exile.
3. Cast Restoration Angel from exile by paying 0.
4. Appa's second ability triggers, creating a 1/1 Ally creature token
5. When Restoration Angel enters, it triggers, blinking Appa.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This remarkable loop turns the normally restrictive exile clause of Appa, Steadfast Guardian into a cost-reduction playground, allowing you to recast your exiled permanents for free. Thanks to the creature-cost-reducing static ability of Nylea, Keen-Eyed working in tandem with the color-specific discounts from Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, the cast cost of Restoration Angel from Appa's airbend exile is reduced all the way down to zero. Once Restoration Angel enters the battlefield, its triggered ability blinks Appa right back out and in, which in turn exiles the Angel anew and triggers Appa's ability to create a 1/1 white Ally creature token every time you cast a spell from exile.
