How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Tatterkite
2. When Tatterkite dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its static effect.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the constant transformation between Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn and Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, whose back face grants your other nontoken creatures persist. When you sacrifice Tatterkite to Altar of Dementia, its persist trigger would normally return it with a -1/-1 counter, but Tatterkite's own static ability prevents counters from ever being placed upon it. This lets Tatterkite return to the battlefield completely unscathed and ready to be sacrificed all over again, fueling Altar of Dementia to endlessly mill your opponents.
