How it works

1. Cast Cryptic Trilobite by paying 0.
2. Cryptic Trilobite enters the battlefield and dies as a state-based action due to having zero toughness.
3. Mortuary and Amareth trigger.
4. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Cryptic Trilobite on top of your library from your graveyard.
5. Resolve the Amareth trigger, causing you to reveal Cryptic Trilobite from the top of your library and put it into your hand.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop relies on casting Cryptic Trilobite with X equal to zero so that it immediately perishes as a state-based action, seeding endless fodder for your engine. Mortuary intercepts this creature as it hits the graveyard, neatly tucking it back onto the top of your library. From there, Amareth, the Lustrous swoops in with its passive trigger; because the creature shares a card type with itself, Amareth lets you smoothly draw Cryptic Trilobite right back into your hand, ready to be recast for zero mana and repeat the cycle indefinitely.
