How it works

1. Cast Saw in Half by paying 2, destroying Izzet Chronarch and creating two token copies of it with base power equal to half the destroyed creature's power and base toughness equal to half the destroyed creature's toughness, rounding up each time.
2. When the Izzet Chronarch tokens enter the battlefield, they trigger, returning Saw in Half and Sacrifice from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Cast Sacrifice by paying and sacrificing a Izzet Chronarch token, adding an amount of equal to its mana value.
4. Repeat.

This clever black-and-red loop turns Izzet Chronarch into a self-replicating engine by exploiting the recursive nature of its enter-the-battlefield trigger. When you cast Saw in Half on the original Chronarch, it destroys the creature and replaces it with two token copies that immediately harvest spells from your graveyard—specifically fetching back Saw in Half and Sacrifice. You then feed one of those tokens to Sacrifice to generate the black mana needed to repeat the process, leaving you with an ever-growing army of chronarchs and infinite black mana.
