How it works

1. Cast Saw in Half by paying 2, destroying Scrivener and creating two token copies of it with base power equal to half the destroyed creature's power and base toughness equal to half the destroyed creature's toughness, rounding up each time.
2. When the Scrivener tokens enter the battlefield, they trigger, returning Saw in Half and Burnt Offering from your graveyard to your hand.
3. Cast Burnt Offering by paying and sacrificing a Scrivener token, adding plus an additional amount of and/or equal to its mana value minus 2.
4. Repeat.

This ingenious black-and-red loop turns a humble Scrivener into an engine for infinite mana and spell-recursion. By using Saw in Half to blow up your original Scrivener and replace it with two half-stats token copies, you trigger both tokens' entry abilities simultaneously to pull both Saw in Half and Burnt Offering right back out of your graveyard. From there, you simply sacrifice one of the fresh Scrivener tokens to fuel Burnt Offering, netting an excess of mana while leaving yourself completely set up to cast Saw in Half again on the survivor—repeating the whole cycle indefinitely.
