How it works

1. If Morselhoarder has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, adding one mana of any color.
2. Repeat step 1 as necessary until Morselhoarder has no -1/-1 counters on it.
3. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Morselhoarder.
4. When Morselhoarder dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
6. Repeat.

This loop turns a clever cycle of life, death, and recycling into an absolute engine of devastation. By tapping into Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, your nontoken creatures gain persist, meaning that when Morselhoarder hits the graveyard from the battlefield, it simply returns with a single -1/-1 counter. You can then use Morselhoarder's native ability to strip away that very counter for any color of mana. Finally, Altar of Dementia provides the necessary sacrifice outlet to send Morselhoarder back to the graveyard while simultaneously milling your opponents' libraries down to nothing.
