How it works

1. If Morselhoarder has any -1/-1 counters on it, activate it by removing a -1/-1 counter from it, adding one mana of any color.
2. Repeat step 1 as necessary until Morselhoarder has no -1/-1 counters on it.
3. Activate Phantom Train by sacrificing Morselhoarder.
4. When Morselhoarder dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
5. Resolve the Phantom Train ability.
6. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on the smooth transformation between Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn and Isilu, Carrier of Twilight to grant persistent life to your board while leveraging Morselhoarder’s unique relationship with -1/-1 counters. By tapping into Morselhoarder's ability to strip away its own counters for any color of mana, you can drain it dry before feeding it to Phantom Train. Once sacrificed, Isilu's persistent gift brings Morselhoarder right back to the battlefield with a single -1/-1 counter, perfectly ready to be fueled anew by Phantom Train's sacrifice-and-counter mechanism.
