How it works
- Cast Acererak by paying 2 life.
- Bontu's Monument and Defiler of Faith trigger.
- Resolve the Bontu's Monument trigger, losing each opponent 1 life and gaining you 1 life.
- Resolve the Defiler of Faith trigger, giving a creature you control +1/+1 until end of turn.
- Acererak enters the battlefield, triggering Ayara and itself.
- Resolve the Ayara trigger, losing each opponent 1 life and gaining you 1 life.
- Resolve Acererak trigger, returning it to your hand and venturing into the Lost Mine of Phandelver.
- Each time you trigger the Dark Pool room ability, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life.
- Repeat.
By combining Jet Medallion and Bontu's Monument with the cost-reducing life payment of Defiler of Flesh, you can reduce Acererak the Archlich's mana cost down to zero, letting you cast the Archlich repeatedly for free. Every time Acererak enters the battlefield, it triggers Ayara, First of Locthwain to drain your opponents while instantly bouncing itself back to your hand as you venture into the dungeon. This endless loop effortlessly grinds down the entire table through repeated dungeon completions and life drain without ever needing a traditional sacrifice outlet.
