How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Golgari Thug.
2. When Golgari Thug dies, it and Vein Ripper trigger.
3. Resolve the Golgari Thug trigger, putting it from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Vein Ripper trigger, causing you to gain 2 life and target opponent to lose 2 life.
5. Cast Golgari Thug from the top of your library by paying 2 life.
6. Repeat.

This loop is masterminded by Gwenom, Remorseless, whose ability lets you cast spells from the top of your library by paying life equal to their mana value instead of mana costs. You kick things off by feeding Golgari Thug to Thermopod, generating a red mana and sending the Thug to the graveyard. That death triggers Vein Ripper to drain your opponent for 2 life while healing you, cushioning the life payment needed to recast Golgari Thug off the top of your library. Meanwhile, Golgari Thug's own triggered ability places itself right back on top of your library, setting up the exact same sacrifice all over again to drain the table dry.
