How it works

1. Activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's first ability by tapping it, adding CCC.
2. Activate Idris using Basalt Monolith's second ability by paying 1, untapping it.
3. Repeat.

By using its Imprint ability to exile Basalt Monolith as it enters the battlefield, Idris, Soul of the TARDIS successfully copies all of that artifact's activated and triggered abilities. Ordinarily, untapping Basalt Monolith would cost three mana—neutralizing its three-mana tapping ability into a break-even proposition—but Biomancer's Familiar steps in to reduce that untap activation cost down to just one mana. This discount transforms the copied abilities into a self-sustaining engine, allowing you to continually tap and untap Idris for infinite colorless mana.
