How it works

1. Activate Selvala by tapping it, adding at least four mana of any color.
2. Activate Sword of the Paruns by paying 3, untapping Selvala
3. Repeat.

This pairing transforms Selvala, Eager Trailblazer into a one-woman mana engine, letting you flood your mana pool with just a few activations. The secret lies in the interaction between Selvala's mana-producing ability and the active untap mechanism provided by Sword of the Paruns. Because Selvala scales her mana generation based on differing creature powers—a threshold easily met when creatures enter or tokens are naturally produced—she easily nets more mana per tap than the Sword requires to untap her. This loop yields infinite colored mana, allowing you to fuel massive spells and dominate the board state in formats like Commander, Legacy, Modern, Oathbreaker, and Vintage.
