How it works

  1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Glint-Sleeve Artisan.
  2. When Glint-Sleeve Artisan dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When Glint-Sleeve Artisan enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
  4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop leverages Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn's backside, Isilu, Carrier of Twilight, to grant your nontoken creatures persist, allowing Glint-Sleeve Artisan to return from the graveyard with a -1/-1 counter whenever it is sacrificed. Shilgengar, Sire of Famine provides the sacrificial outlet, turning each trip to the graveyard into valuable Blood tokens while feeding the engine. When Glint-Sleeve Artisan enters the battlefield anew, its fabricate ability places a +1/+1 counter on it, which immediately neutralizes the existing -1/-1 counter through state-based actions via standard rules of counter cancellation. This resets the creature so it can be sacrificed to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine all over again, generating an endless supply of triggers and artifact tokens.
