This lethal sequence turns Skirk Fire Marshal's sweeping pyrotechnics into a game-ending strike by twisting its damage into something far deadlier. While normally the Marshal's ability deals plain damage to everyone, casting Tainted Strike on it grants it infect so that the fallout is dealt as poison counters. The real genius of the setup lies in Melira, Sylvok Outcast, whose passive ability ensures that your own creatures—and crucially, the Fire Marshal itself—are completely immune to receiving -1/-1 counters from the explosion. Because the Marshal also has protection from red, it easily survives its own 10-damage inferno while wiping out the board and handing your opponents more than enough poison to seal their fate.
