How it works

1. Activate Megatog by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Megatog ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop hinges on Melira, Sylvok Outcast, whose passive ability prevents creatures you control from ever receiving -1/-1 counters. That immunity completely circumvents the usual drawback of Lesser Masticore’s persist ability, allowing the mechanical rat to return from the graveyard completely free of counters every single time it dies. You exploit this endlessly by feeding Lesser Masticore to Megatog's sacrifice activation, pumping Megatog to monstrously large proportions while generating an endless stream of death, sacrifice, and entry triggers.
