How it works

1. Activate Krark-Clan Grunt by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.

3. Resolve the Krark-Clan Grunt ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the mechanical quirk of persist on its head by utilizing Melira, Sylvok Outcast, whose static ability prevents creatures you control from ever receiving -1/-1 counters. Because of this protection, when Lesser Masticore dies and its persist ability triggers, it returns to the battlefield completely clean instead of entering with a counter.
