How it works

1. Activate Atog by sacrificing Lesser Masticore.
2. When Lesser Masticore dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Atog ability.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop centers around Lesser Masticore and its persist ability, which normally self-limits by saddling the rat with a -1/-1 counter upon its return. Melira, Sylvok Outcast completely shuts down that downside, preventing any -1/-1 counters from being placed on your creatures and allowing Lesser Masticore to return from the graveyard unscathed time and time again. Meanwhile, Atog provides the necessary sacrifice outlet to send the Masticore to the graveyard on command, turning all those endless loops into an infinitely large creature while generating boundless death, sacrifice, and entry triggers.
