How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Twilight Shepherd.
2. When Twilight Shepherd dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability
4. Repeat.

This loop uses Melira, Sylvok Outcast's static ability to bypass persist's usual drawback, ensuring Twilight Shepherd never accumulates the -1/-1 counters that would normally stop it from recurring. By sacrificing Twilight Shepherd to Umbral Collar Zealot, you send the Shepherd to the graveyard, which immediately triggers its persist ability to bring it right back to the battlefield cleanly. Best of all, because Twilight Shepherd enters the battlefield repeatedly, its own triggered ability can return any other cards put into your graveyard from the battlefield that turn, letting you churn through your deck with infinite surveil while generating endless sacrifice and death triggers.
