How it works

1. Activate Antler Skulkin by paying 2, giving a white creature you control persist until end of turn.
2. Activate Ashnod's Altar by sacrificing the white creature, adding CC.
3. When the creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield with no -1/-1 counters on it due to Melira.
4. Repeat.

This loop relies on Melira, Sylvok Outcast's static ability to prevent -1/-1 counters from ever being placed on your creatures, which completely bypasses the traditional drawback of persist. When you use Antler Skulkin to grant persist to a white creature, sacrificing that creature to Ashnod's Altar yields two colorless mana—more than enough to pay for the Skulkin's activation and keep the chain going. Because Melira ensures the returning creature arrives with a clean slate free of -1/-1 counters, the persist ability can trigger infinitely, generating an endless supply of sacrifices and death triggers.
