How it works

1. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Wingrattle Scarecrow.
2. When Wingrattle Scarecrow dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Repeat.

This clever loop turns an ordinary scarecrow into an endless engine by leveraging Melira, Sylvok Outcast to completely bypass the drawback of persist. Because Melira prevents -1/-1 counters from being placed on your creatures, Wingrattle Scarecrow returns from the graveyard completely unscathed every time it dies. You can then feed that endless resurrection directly into Phyrexian Altar, sacrificing the Wingrattle Scarecrow repeatedly to generate an infinite supply of colored mana, death triggers, and sacrifice fodder.
