How it works

1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Safehold Elite.
2. When Safehold Elite dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability
4. Repeat.

This charming loop turns an ordinary common into an infinite engine by exploiting the interaction between death and counters. When you feed Safehold Elite to Viscera Seer, its persist trigger normally tries to saddle it with a -1/-1 counter upon return, but the static protection from Melira, Sylvok Outcast completely prevents that counter from ever being placed. Because Safehold Elite returns to the battlefield pristine and counter-free, its persist ability can trigger anew every single time you sacrifice it, giving you an endless loop of sacrifices, graveyard triggers, and free scry 1 manipulations.
