How it works

  1. Activate Viscera Seer by sacrificing Melira.
  2. When Melira dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to its static effect.
  3. Resolve the Viscera Seer ability.
  4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Melira, Sylvok Outcast to bypass the mechanical downside of persist, which Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn) generously grants to your nontoken creatures. Because Melira's static ability prevents -1/-1 counters from being placed on your creatures, dying with persist simply brings the creature right back without its usual counter limitation. You can feed this continuous cycle directly into Viscera Seer, sacrificing Melira over and over again to generate infinite sacrifice and death triggers while sculpting the top of your library with endless scry 1s.
