How it works

1. Activate Carrion Feeder by sacrificing Glen Elendra Archmage.
2. When Glen Elendra Archmage dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Carrion Feeder ability
4. Repeat.

This clever engine transforms Glen Elendra Archmage into an endlessly recurring counterspell machine by exploiting the interaction between persist and Melira, Sylvok Outcast. Normally, persist would brand the Archmage with a -1/-1 counter upon its return, permanently shutting down its ability to trigger again; however, Melira's static ability completely prevents those counters from ever being placed. This leaves Carrion Feeder free to repeatedly sacrifice the Archmage for infinite growth, generating an unending storm of creature deaths, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and leaving-the-battlefield triggers.
