How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Persistent Constrictor.
2. When Persistent Constrictor dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield without a -1/-1 counter on it due to Melira.
3. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability
4. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Melira, Sylvok Outcast and her passive ability to completely negate the drawback of persist, allowing Persistent Constrictor to return from the graveyard completely free of -1/-1 counters every time it dies. By feeding that same Persistent Constrictor into Umbral Collar Zealot's sacrifice ability over and over, you can endlessly recur the creature to churn through your deck with infinite surveil triggers.
