How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Serrated Scorpion.
2. When Serrated Scorpion dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Serrated Scorpion from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Serrated Scorpion trigger, causing you to gain 2 life and dealing 2 damage to each opponent.
5. Cast Serrated Scorpion from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Gwenom.
6. Repeat.

This ingenious loop turns a modest insect into a lethal engine by turning your library into a revolving door of sacrifices. Thermopod provides the sacrificial outlet to generate red mana while setting up the cycle, which triggers Mortuary to seamlessly recycle Serrated Scorpion straight back to the top of your library. Meanwhile, Gwenom, Remorseless grants you the crucial ability to cast that very same Serrated Scorpion directly from the top of your library, paying its mana value in life instead of mana. Because Serrated Scorpion drains your opponents and gains you life when it dies, the life payment required by Gwenom is entirely offset, leaving you free to repeat the process infinitely for endless damage and life.
