How it works

1. Cast Azorius Herald either from your hand by paying 2 in nonblue mana, or from the top of your library by paying 3 life.
2. When Azorius Herald enters the battlefield, its first and second abilities trigger, causing you to gain 4 life and then sacrifice Azorius Herald.
3. When Azorius Herald dies, Mortuary triggers, putting Azorius Herald from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Repeat.

This ingenious loop transforms Azorius Herald into a self-sustaining engine by manipulating where creatures go as they die. When you cast Azorius Herald, its entry triggers both a 4-life boost and its mandatory sacrifice if blue mana wasn't spent; once it hits the graveyard, Mortuary instantly repositions it right back onto the top of your library. From there, Gwenom, Remorseless steps in as the enabler, allowing you to bypass mana costs by paying life equal to the spell's mana value, fueling endless recasts of the Herald while your net life total climbs thanks to the creature's built-in lifegain.
