How it works

1. Activate Spore Frog by sacrificing it.
2. When Spore Frog dies, Mortuary and South Wind Avatar's first ability triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Spore Frog from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the South Wind Avatar trigger, causing you to gain 1 life.
5. South Wind Avatar's second ability triggers, causing each opponent to lose 1 life.
6. Resolve the Spore Frog ability.
7. Cast Spore Frog from the top of your library by paying 1 life.
8. Repeat.

This ingenious loop locks opponents out of combat entirely while draining them dry, all anchored by Gwenom, Remorseless granting you the ability to cast spells straight from the top of your library by paying life instead of mana. When you sacrifice Spore Frog to prevent all combat damage, Mortuary immediately catches it on its way to the graveyard and neatly stacks it right back on top of your library. Meanwhile, South Wind Avatar capitalizes on the death by triggering its toughness-based lifegain—which in turn triggers its second ability to make each opponent lose 1 life. Because Gwenom lets you cast Spore Frog from the top of your library for a mere 1 life, the life you gain from South Wind Avatar easily offsets the cost, leaving you free to repeat this cycle indefinitely for an overwhelming storm count and certain victory.
