How it works

1. Activate Umbral Collar Zealot by sacrificing Tarpan.
2. When Tarpan dies, it and Mortuary triggers.
3. Resolve the Mortuary trigger, putting Tarpan from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
4. Resolve the Tarpan trigger, causing you to gain 1 life
5. Resolve the Umbral Collar Zealot ability.
6. Cast Tarpan from the top of your library by paying 1 life due to Gwenom.
7. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble insect into an endless engine of life and momentum by letting you repeatedly sacrifice and recast Tarpan for zero net life. Umbral Collar Zealot provides the sacrifice outlet that feeds your graveyard, while Mortuary catches Tarpan on its way down to automatically restock it right back onto the top of your library. From there, Gwenom, Remorseless grants you the crucial ability to play Tarpan directly from the top of your library, bypassing its mana cost by paying life instead—a life loss that is immediately offset each cycle by Tarpan's own death trigger.
