How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing Greedy Freebooter, adding .
2. When Greedy Freebooter dies, it and Rakdos trigger.
3. Resolve the Greedy Freebooter trigger, creating a Treasure token and causing you to scry 1.
4. Activate the Treasure by tapping and sacrificing it, adding .
5. Holding priority, activate Haunted Crossroads by paying , putting Greedy Freebooter from your graveyard onto the top of your library.
6. Resolve the Rakdos trigger, exiling Greedy Freedbooter from the top of your library with the ability to cast it until your next turn.
7. Cast Greedy Freebooter from exile by paying 1.
8. Repeat.

This clever loop is centered around Rakdos, the Muscle, whose triggered ability exiles cards whenever you sacrifice another creature, allowing you to play them. By sacrificing Greedy Freebooter to Thermopod, you generate the red mana needed to recast it while triggering the Freebooter's death ability to make a Treasure. Cracking that Treasure yields the black mana required to use Haunted Crossroads, which puts the Freebooter right back on top of your library so Rakdos can exile it again. Because Rakdos lets you spend mana of any type, this closed circuit endlessly recycles your sacrifice fodder while digging through your deck and racking up an infinite storm count.
