How it works

1. Activate Thermopod's second ability by sacrificing the persist creature, adding .
2. When the persist creature dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When the persist creature enters the battlefield, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop turns your graveyard into an endless engine of creation and sacrifice, fueled by Thermopod’s ability to turn any fallen creature into red mana. The magic truly comes together thanks to Cayth, Famed Mechanist, whose static ability grants fabricate 1 to all your other nontoken creatures—meaning your persist creatures return from the dead and immediately trigger their own token-making or counter-buffing ability. As the +1/+1 counter from fabricate cancels out the -1/+1 counter from persist, the creature is instantly ready to be sacrificed back to Thermopod all over again, generating an infinite stream of mana, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and death triggers.
