How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing Marionette Apprentice.
2. When Marionette Apprentice dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Marionette Apprentice enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Repeat.

This loop relies on the clever interplay between Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (the back face of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn) and Thermopod to turn a simple sacrifice into an engine of endless destruction. While Thermopod provides the necessary sacrifice outlet to generate red mana, Isilu's static ability grants your other nontoken creatures persist, ensuring that Marionette Apprentice keeps crawling back from the graveyard with a -1/-1 counter. Fortunately, Marionette Apprentice's own fabricate ability drops a +1/+1 counter onto it as it re-enters, instantly neutralizing the -1/-1 counter via state-based actions and setting up the next loop. Finally, Marionette Apprentice makes sure all this dying isn't just for show, draining your opponents' life totals down to zero every single time a piece hits the graveyard.
