How it works

1. Activate Thermopod by sacrificing White Widow.
2. When White Widow dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When White Widow enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it and up to one other creature.
4. Repeat.

This clever loop uses Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's static persist-granting ability to establish a self-sustaining cycle of sacrifice and rebirth with Thermopod. When you sacrifice White Widow, Free Agent to Thermopod for red mana, Isilu's effect brings it right back with a -1/-1 counter, which White Widow immediately neutralizes by using its entrance trigger to place a +1/+1 counter on itself. Meanwhile, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn sits ready on the reverse side to help cast creature spells through convoke while you generate an endless stream of deaths and red mana.
