How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Boros Garrison.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Need for Speed by sacrificing Boros Garrison.
5. When Boros Garrison dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Boros Garrison from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Boros Garrison enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Resolve the Need for Speed ability
8. Repeat.

This clever loop transforms a humble artifact into a self-sustaining engine by letting Toph, the First Metalbender redefine all your nontoken artifacts as lands. Once that foundation is set, you can cast your artifact for free, triggering Toph, Hardheaded Teacher to earthbend Boros Garrison into a creature so it can be sacrificed to Need for Speed's ability. Because Boros Garrison is technically a land type while in the graveyard thanks to Toph, the First Metalbender, its death triggers Toph, Hardheaded Teacher to bounce it right back to the battlefield tapped, where its own entry trigger returns your original artifact to your hand to start the cycle anew.
