How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Cayth.
2. When Cayth dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Cayth enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's generous gift of persist into an engine for infinite sacrifice and mill, all fueled by Altar of Dementia. Whenever you feed Cayth, Famed Mechanist to the altar, its own granted persist triggers to bring it right back alongside a neutralizing -1/+1 counter from its built-in fabricate ability. Meanwhile, Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn sits ready to hand out convoke and help orchestrate the board state, while Cayth, Famed Mechanist's tap ability and token-doubling potential provide plenty of utility when you aren't busy milling your opponents out of the game entirely.
