How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Marionette Apprentice.

3. When Marionette Apprentice enters, its fabricate ability triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns the back side of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight into an engine of endless attrition by granting its persistent life-drain ability to Marionette Apprentice. When you sacrifice Marionette Apprentice to Altar of Dementia, its persist trigger brings it right back, where its fabricate ability immediately cancels out the incoming -1/-1 counter with a fresh +1/+1 counter.
