How it works

  1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing White Widow.
  2. When White Widow dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
  3. When White Widow enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it and up to one other creature.
  4. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability.
  5. Repeat.

This clever loop relies on Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's passive grant of persist to keep your non-token creatures returning from the dead, while Altar of Dementia provides the sacrifice outlet to start the chain. When White Widow, Free Agent enters the battlefield from the graveyard, its ability counters the -1/-1 counter left behind by persist with a fresh +1/+1 counter, resetting its mortality. Meanwhile, having Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn on the flip side makes your creature spells easier to cast with convoke as you dig through your deck. Together, this trinity of cards grinds your opponents' libraries down to dust while generating an endless storm of entry, exit, and sacrifice triggers.
