How it works

1. Cast Bladewing's Thrall by paying 2.
2. When Bladewing's Thrall enters, Nesting Dragon triggers, as Bladewing's Thrall is a land due to Ashaya.
3. Holding priority, activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Bladewing's Thrall.
4. Resolve the Nesting Dragon trigger, creating a 0/2 Dragon Egg creature token.
5. When the Dragon Egg enters, Bladewing's Thrall triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This elegant loop relies on Ashaya, Soul of the Wild to fundamentally rewrite the battlefield, turning every nontoken creature into a Forest land in addition to its other types. Because of this static ability, casting Bladewing's Thrall triggers Nesting Dragon's landfall ability the moment it enters, while simultaneously making the Thrall itself a valid sacrifice target for Shilgengar, Sire of Famine. By sacrificing Bladewing's Thrall to Shilgengar in response to the Nesting Dragon trigger, you generate a Blood token and put the Thrall back in the graveyard—only for the newly created Dragon Egg token's entry to trigger Bladewing's Thrall, pulling it right back out of the graveyard to restart the entire engine.
