How it works

1. Cast Toph by paying its mana cost plus commander tax if applicable
2. When Toph enters, its earthbend ability triggers, causing it to earthbend itself as it is a Forest due to Ashaya.
3. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Toph
4. When Toph dies, it triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
5. When Toph enters, its earthbend ability triggers, causing it to earthbend itself as it is a Forest due to Ashaya.
6. Repeat from step 3.

This clever loop turns our young metalbender into a self-sustaining mana machine thanks to a clever interaction with the rest of the board. With Ashaya, Soul of the Wild on the battlefield, Toph, the Blind Bandit is naturally a Forest land in addition to its other types, which uniquely allows Toph's own earthbend trigger to target itself upon entering. Once Toph is sacrificed to Phyrexian Altar, its dying trigger returns it straight to the battlefield tapped, instantly restarting the entire process. This continuous cycle generates infinite colored mana along with an endless stream of sacrifice, death, ETB, LTB, and landfall triggers!
