How it works

1. Activate Ghave's first ability by removing a +1/+1 counter from it, creating a 1/1 Saproling creature token.
2. Activate Ghave's second ability by sacrificing the Saproling, putting a +1/+1 counter on Ghave.
3. Repeat.

This delightful loop turns Ghave, Guru of Spores into a self-sustaining engine by cycling counters and tokens back and forth. The secret glue holding this entire mechanism together is Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, whose static ability turns every nontoken creature you control—including Ghave and any Saproling tokens—into a Forest land in addition to its other types. Thanks to Blossoming Tortoise sitting on the battlefield, those land-creatures have their activated abilities discounted, reducing Ghave's first ability to just `{0}` to activate. By using that free ability to shed a counter for a Saproling and then immediately sacrificing that token back to Ghave to reclaim the counter, you generate an infinite storm of sacrifices, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and leaves-the-battlefield triggers.
