How it works

1. Cast Bladewing's Thrall by paying 2.
2. When Bladewing's Thrall enters, Dragonback Assault triggers, as Bladewing's Thrall is a land due to Ashaya.
3. Holding priority, activate Trenching Steed by sacrificing Bladewing's Thrall.
4. Resolve the Dragonback Assault trigger, creating a 4/4 Dragon creature token.
5. When the Dragon enters, Bladewing's Thrall triggers, returning itself from your graveyard to the battlefield.
6. Repeat from step 2.

This fascinating loop transforms a humble creature sacrifice into a self-sustaining engine by turning your own team into lands. With Ashaya, Soul of the Wild on the battlefield, Bladewing's Thrall counts as a Forest in addition to its other types, which cleverly causes Dragonback Assault to trigger whenever it enters the battlefield. You then feed that same Bladewing's Thrall to Trenching Steed's sacrifice ability to clear it off the board, while Dragonback Assault's landfall-like trigger creates a 4/4 red Dragon token. That newly arrived Dragon immediately wakes up Bladewing's Thrall in your graveyard, allowing it to march right back to the battlefield and restart the cycle.
