How it works

1. Donate Karlov Watchdog to an opponent.
2. During the opponent's turn, activate Shilgengar by sacrificing a face-down creature you control.
3. When the creature dies, Yarus's second ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield face-down as a 2/2 creature, and then not turning it face-up due to Karlov Watchdog.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat from step 2.

This clever loop relies on a clever piece of rule-bending enabled by giving away Karlov Watchdog to your opponent, which ensures your own permanents cannot be turned face up during your turn. When you sacrifice a face-down creature to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine's ability to feed its Blood-producing furnace, Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods steps in to return that creature from the graveyard directly to the battlefield face down. Because Karlov Watchdog prevents it from accidentally flipping back face up, the creature remains safely cloaked and ready to be sacrificed over and over again. Though Bilbo, Luckwearer // Burglar's Plot sits quietly in the mix as an adventure waiting to be cast, this engine easily churns out endless sacrifices, artifact tokens, and creature triggers to overwhelm the board.
