How it works

1. Activate the creature with Umbral Mantle attached using Cabal Stronghold's ability by paying 3 and tapping it, adding at least six .
2. Activate the creature by paying 3 and untapping it, giving it +2/+2 until end of turn.
3. Repeat.

This engine transforms your lands and creatures into an unstoppable mana machine, perfect for Commander and Vintage tables. When Steward of the Harvest enters the battlefield, it consumes up to three land cards from your graveyard, permanently granting your creatures their unique activated abilities—allowing your Steward to borrow Cabal Stronghold's devastating mana-producing knack. By wrapping Umbral Mantle around the Steward, you can funnel that generated black mana right back into the equipment's untap cost, easily covering the activation fee and leaving you with a surplus of mana while infinitely pumping the Steward's power.
