How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Hogaak.
2. When Hogaak dies, Open the Graves and The Skullspore Nexus trigger, creating two creature tokens.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing you to mill eight cards.
4. Cast Hogaak from your graveyard by exiling five cards from your graveyard and tapping two black and/or green creatures you control.
5. Repeat.

This clever loop turns Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis into a self-sustaining cycle of sacrifice and resurrection, fueled entirely from the graveyard rather than your mana pool. By feeding Hogaak to Altar of Dementia, you mill your library while triggering both Open the Graves and The Skullspore Nexus to immediately replenish your board with new bodies. You then use those fresh tokens—alongside cards exiled from your graveyard—to pay for Hogaak's delve and convoke costs, allowing you to cast him straight out of the graveyard and repeat the entire process indefinitely.
