How it works

1. Activate Altar of Dementia by sacrificing Hogaak.
2. When Hogaak dies, Phenomenon Investigators and The Skullspore Nexus trigger, creating two creature tokens.
3. Resolve the Altar of Dementia ability, causing you to mill eight cards.
4. Cast Hogaak from your graveyard by exiling five cards from your graveyard and tapping two black and/or green creatures you control.
5. Repeat.

This lethal loop relies on Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis being cast directly from the graveyard using its delve and convoke abilities, bypassing traditional mana costs entirely while fueling its own recursive loop. By sacrificing Hogaak to Altar of Dementia, you trigger both Phenomenon Investigators—set to Believe to churn out a 2/2 Horror token—and The Skullspore Nexus, which responds to the death by spawning a massive Fungus Dinosaur token with power equal to Hogaak's 8. Those newly created tokens (plus any other creatures lying around) can then be tapped for convoke to help recast Hogaak from the graveyard, feeding the Altar of Dementia once more to mill your opponent's entire library while generating infinite death triggers, enter-the-battlefield events, and token armies.
