How it works

1. Activate Chromatic Orrery's first ability by tapping it, adding 5.
2. Cast Whim of Volrath with buyback by paying 3, targeting Chromatic Orrery.
3. Orvar's first ability triggers, creating a token copy of Chromatic Orrery.
4. Resolve Whim of Volrath, returning it to your hand.
5. Repeat.
6. Once you have infinite mana, you may instead activate the Chromatic Orrery tokens using their second abilities, or target any other permanent.

This loop relies on an ingenious mana-positive engine that turns a humble cantrip into a permanent-copying machine. By casting Whim of Volrath targeting Chromatic Orrery, you trigger Orvar, the All-Form's ability to create a token copy of the Orrery; thanks to the Orrery's ability to tap for five colorless mana, paying the spell's buyback cost leaves you with a net profit of mana every single iteration. Cadric, Soul Kindler ensures that any legendary permanents you duplicate along the way are safe from the legend rule, allowing you to flood the board with legendary artifacts, creatures, and infinite card draw once you have enough mana to start cracking the Orrery tokens' second ability.
