How it works

1. Activate Shilgengar by sacrificing Mikey & Mona.
2. When Mikey & Mona dies, its persist ability triggers, returning it from your graveyard to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it.
3. When Mikey & Mona enters, it triggers, putting a +1/+1 counter on it.
4. Resolve the Shilgengar ability.
5. Repeat.

This intricate loop is built upon the back of Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight's twilight side, which generously grants persist to all your other nontoken creatures. When you feed Mikey & Mona, Mutant Sitters to Shilgengar, Sire of Famine, the tragic death is immediately softened: persist returns Mikey & Mona with a -1/-1 counter, but its entry ability counters this by placing two +1/+1 counters upon itself, neutralizing the penalty via state-based actions. Shilgengar happily keeps generating a flurry of Blood tokens from the sacrifices, eventually letting you cash them in to flood the board with mass resurrection while the mutant sitters endlessly loop between life and death.
