How it works

1. Cast the artifact by paying 0.
2. Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers, earthbending Gruul Turf.
3. Resolve the artifact spell.
4. Activate Phyrexian Altar by sacrificing Gruul Turf.
5. When Gruul Turf dies, Toph, Hardheaded Teach triggers, returning Gruul Turf from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped.
6. When Gruul Turf enters, it triggers, returning the artifact cast in step 1 from the battlefield to your hand, as it's a land due to Toph, the First Metalbender.
7. Repeat.

This ingenious loop transforms your cheap artifacts into recurring lands and fuel, using Toph, the First Metalbender to continuously turn any nontoken artifact you control into a land. When you cast that artifact, Toph, Hardheaded Teacher triggers to earthbend Gruul Turf, animating it so it's ready to be sacrificed to Phyrexian Altar for any color of mana. Because Gruul Turf is a land, its entry trigger forces you to return your zero-mana artifact back to your hand, allowing you to recast it and repeat the cycle indefinitely for infinite mana and triggers across the board.
